NYC Commute Sketches
- 2019 NYCFor the entire 2019, I made it my ritual to draw people on the train during my daily commute. By the end of the year, I had completed 280+ drawings, capturing 800+ New Yorkers in their everyday journeys.
It all began with simple curiosity — the urge to observe, to record fleeting moments. Then came persistence. Eventually, it became a quiet habit.
The experience is unique. Like hiking, you don’t feel every step, but eventually the view hits — and with it, the power of persistence and the new heights my art finally reached.
I believe everyone’s commute is worth remembering. It’s a quiet slice of our lives, a rhythm we rarely pay attention to but one that shapes who we are. This project is my tribute to those unnoticed moments and to the people who share the city with me, every single day.
